Some people believe that monetizing your blog is unethical and immoral. Some people believe that monetizing is just a cheap way to make money from home. If you think along these lines, this blog is not for you. Here, we will learn all of the secrets of monetizing your blog successfully, and the secrets of how to make money from the comfort of your own home.

If you have mixed feelings about monetizing your blog, then sort out those feelings first. If you are not fully prepared to undertake the daunting task of monetizing your blog, then do not continue. When you are ready to learn how to make great money by blogging, continue reading.

OK, now that you are ready to learn, first you have to be fully committed to monetizing your site. If you are going to put up a few adsense ads, really put up adsense ads. A puny little square text box in the corner of the screen is not going to cut it. If you are going to be asking for some donations, really ask for those donations. "Don’t take a half-assed approach. Either be full-assed or no-assed."

You shouldn't worry about complaints. If you are worried that you might scare off some loyal readers, you shouldn't be. Usually, you will only get 1 in 1000 people who complain about the ads; and eventually that one person comes to realize that the ads are there to stay.

Truth is, you can't really know until you put up some ads. Some people that I know make six-figures blogging online, while others are content with only make a quarter a day. The people who are making six-figures are totally dedicated to their craft. They spend time every day updating their blog, and the readers appreciate that, which means they will come back. If you want to make serious cash with blogging, you need to be fully dedicated and have something interesting to say. Readers will not come back if your feeding them the same crap. You need to stick out in the blogging world for people to notice you.

Now, let me get back on track. The amount you can make online with a blog is directly tied with how much time you are willing to put into the blog. Don't expect to be making a decent living the first day the blog is up. You need to continue working at it to make a good amount of cash.

The amount of money you can make with your blog is also tied in with where and how you place the ads. If you are using google adsense, there are a number of options when it comes to how to place the advertisements. The format that I have the most success with it the large rectangle. Use matching colors to make the advertisement seem like part of the page. You will get a great CTR (Click-Through-Rate) if you follow this advice.

What skills do I need to be able to make money with my blog?

Well, you'll need a number of skills in order to be a good blogger.

You need to be:
  1. Insightful
  2. Have some intelligence on the matter your speaking of
  3. Humorous (sometimes)
  4. Dedicated to your craft
  5. In love with what you are doing
I mentioned number 5 because it is one of the most important things a blogger needs. If you do not like blogging, then there is absolutely no reason to be blogging. If you do not love what you are doing, then you will probably become bored. Personally, I love blogging. It brings joy to everyday life. I like to see what other people think about issues that I like to discuss. That's what is needed to be a good blogger.

You also need to have a rough idea of how to keep your blog in shape. By that, I mean you might need to know a little bit of:
  • HTML
  • Javascript
  • CSS
It is not necessary to know these things, but it does help in making your website attractive.

Conclusions

If you are really into blogging, and really want to monetize your blog, then good for you. But, it does not mean that you will definitely become rich. Only about 1 in 99 bloggers will find some cash in what they love doing, but if you are willing to take a leap into the world of blogging, then you may be that 1.
